Happy New Year Garland
Celebrate the New Year with simple, festive decorations. This garland requires just a few basic craft materials.
Supplies:
- 12 pieces of felt, cut in 3″ x 8″ strips
- sequins
- yarn
- scissors
- glue
Steps:
Cut two lengths of yarn, one approximately 4 feet long and the other 3 feet long.
Starting with the shorter piece of yarn, take five pieces of felt and fold them over the yarn. There should be 2″ of space between each piece of felt. When everything is lined up, carefully lift the top portion of each piece of felt and add glue around the edges. Fold the felt back and press it together.
Fold the remaining seven pieces of felt over the longer piece of yarn. Allow 2″ of space between each of the felt pieces EXCEPT the gap between the 3rd and 4th pieces should be 4″. Glue the felt in place.
Working on one letter at a time, use glue to spell out H-A-P-P-Y on the first set of felt letters. Arrange the sequins on the wet glue. On the second banner, spell out N-E-W Y-E-A-R.
When the glue is completely dry, tie the left ends of the yarn to each other and the right ends to each other. Hang the banner and you’re ready to celebrate!
